Ethical Fashion - Top Shop- New ECO Collection- My ONLY ONE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJUNE 4th 2009
SPORT NOUVEAU STYLE MEETS ECHOES FROM THE PAST my only one - launching this Sunday June 7th 2009 at Topshop. Keeping orphaned textiles out of landfills allowing them to be reborn, remade and loved all over again. My Only One hits one of the world's largest fashion stores - Topshop’s London flagship Oxford Street location - for a colourful Spring/Summer 09 launch.

The brand concept has evolved naturally from a need to recycle and reuse previously sourced vintage clothing that has been deemed un-saleable and/or un-wearable.Our vision is simple - to produce a collaborative brand providing a creative platform for talented, ethically minded, emerging designers who are inspired to transform textile waste into innovative, covetable and well-designed apparel.

Many women are increasingly drawn to buying vintage and 2nd hand clothing. At times styles and shapes may not fit quite right. If you’re like me you have a stack of clothes in your wardrobe waiting for little alterations that you never get around to. My Only One reinvents and recycles items from the past creating unique new looks from garments that were about to see the end of their days. One off individuality and keeping a garment out of the bin gives a discarded item an exciting new life.” says Pamela Daniels, Creative Director and co-founder of My Only One and director of Ethical Fashion Forum.

REDUCE your Carbon Footprint with Eco Force

This is the product that caught my eye yesterday. At Sainsburys, on a corner stuffed away, it was only by pure chance that I saw recycled Clothes Pegs by Eco Force.

I was only there as I was looking for the Fair trade selection at Sainsburys...I didn't need any clothes, and rarely buy new, ever, but wanted to see as it's World Environment Day coming up this week, was there a song and dance so to speak in-store with Point of Sale, merch etc.

With this thought I wandered to see the Fair Trade section. I couldn't believe the Fair trade T shirts for men, they had some in stock, but the cut wasn't that great, and I thought that was a amazing they had some in stock, but wasnt frankly surprised, the product, the T shirts, just didn't look as if they would flatter anyone. I must though praise them for gallent efforts to stock high street Tees that are Fair trade.

Next to them was to my delight a huge packet of clothes pegs. I dont need any more, these I had to get though, there brilliant. It was the dynamic packaging and reduce your carbon footprint written all over them that grabbed me. This is what it says on the pack. They also look as if they have a really clever design.

The facts on the pack:

Each tumble drier load can release up to 2.6 Kg in Co2.

EcoForce pegs are made from 100% recycled plastic from a mixture of pre and post consumer waste.

Making recycled plastic uses 70% less energy than making plastic bags.
